Welcome, Margo Schuch!
We're proud to announce that Margo Schuch will be joining the Lutheran North team and filling the role of social studies teacher and academic seminar moderator. Margo has been one of our most reliable substitute teachers for the last three years. Margo graduated high school from the Academy of Sacred Heart and then headed to the University of Detroit Mercy and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in education in English and History. Margo also earned her graduate degree from the University of Mercy in Curriculum and Instruction.
Margo taught 30 years in L’Anse Creuse schools and also taught adult education at night and summer school every year. One of her most interesting experiences was instructing distance learning at the Macomb Correctional Facility.
Margo has been married to her husband Tom for 25 years and together they have 6 children and 10 grandchildren. They are members at Our Redeemer Lutheran in Washington.

What’s your role at Lutheran North?
Teaching World History and Academic Seminar Moderator
Where are you from?
Always lived in Michigan and just retired after 30 years in L’Anse Creuse Public Schools
When did you know that you wanted to be in the Lutheran high school environment and what led you to pursue that path?
After having the privilege of being a guest instructor (sub) here the past three years I knew that I had found an extraordinary place to be of service to my Lord and Savior as well as my fellow educators.
What’s your favorite Bible verse?
Philippians 1:3-11
What are three words to best describe you?
Outgoing, friendly and loving
What was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
Teaching English to prisoners at the 26 Mile Correctional Facility in Macomb County
Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?
No I think my greatest talent is my ability to empathize with others and I don’t hide that
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?
To be an amazing singer of praise songs
What’s your favorite food?
Vegetarian pasta
What’s your least favorite food?
Anything with the word meat in it
What’s your favorite place that you’ve traveled and why?
San Francisco and Menlo Park California – family and the beauty of the area
Where would you like to travel next and why?
Busan South Korea to see my Grandson graduate from the IBA in June of 2021
What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
I was an accomplished swimmer and even swam in the Olympic Trials!
What’s one hobby you’d like to get into?
Knitting or crocheting
What’s your favorite sport to watch and which team do you root for?
College Football and U of M
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
Unfortunately, BOTH!
Are you a dog person or a cat person (neither or both)?
Dog
What’s one of your favorite memories from the past year?
My grandchildren and children’s Christmas visit (they live in Korea)
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
Love the Lord and put your trust in Him. My beloved parents
Is there any advice you’d offer to current and future Lutheran North students?
Love yourself and don’t be too hard on yourself – NO ONE is perfect and our mistakes make us grow – we rarely learn from our successes
