Welcome, Kimberly Scott

Kimberly Scott

Lutheran North

LSEM Learning Coordinator

A little about myself....I grew up in the Rochester area and am one of 4 children. I've always spent my summers in northern Michigan which is my happy place. I love being outdoors. Hiking, biking, kayaking and canoeing are my favorite things to do. I went to LHN and graduated in 1988, probably with some of your parents. I then attended Valparaiso University, Concordia University, and Saginaw Valley State University. I used to teach 4th grade next door at St. Peter and then worked for LSEM for a few years. I then got married and moved to Cape Cod and taught there for awhile before starting a family. I have three children...Evan is 18 and a freshman at the University of Nebraska, Connor is 16 and a junior at LHN and Hannah 13, a LHN freshman. We have moved a lot in the past 20 years....E. Falmouth, MA, Valparaiso, IN, Fishers, IN, Newburgh, IN, Redondo Beach, CA, The Woodlands, TX, Vienna, VA, Crofton, MD, Arcadia, MI, Dayton, OH, Jasper, IN, Bennington, NE and Newark, NJ for a short time. I've always enjoyed working with students and feel especially fortunate to be back at LHN.

Please warmly welcome Kimberly as a Mustang and get to know her through our Staff Spotlight 20 Questions below!!

Staff Spotlight: Kimberly Scott

20 QUESTIONS

  1. What’s your role at Lutheran North?

    LSEM Learning Coordinator

  2. Where are you from?

    Rochester, Michigan

  3. When did you know that you wanted to be in the Lutheran high school environment and what led you to pursue that path?

I was out for a walk this past May (this is when I do my best "mind decluttering" and praying) when I felt a real nudge to pursue this level of education.

  4. What’s your favorite Bible verse?

Deuteronomy 31:8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be discouraged.

  5. What are three words to best describe you?

    Friendly, Energetic, Outdoorsy

  6. What was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I volunteered at the Nebraska Humane Society. It was VERY interesting every day. It's amazing how much people really love their pets and sad how many don't take care of them properly.

  7. Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?

Killing spiders for people who are too afraid to.

  8. If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?

To be able to morph myself to a tropical beach in the blink of an eye.

  9. What’s your favorite food?

It's a tie between dark chocolate and crab cakes.

  10. What’s your least favorite food?

Another tie between sloppy joes and beef stroganoff.

  11. What’s your favorite place that you’ve traveled and why?

Prague, Czechoslavakia....it was so beautiful, so historic and you can eat like royalty for very little money.

  12. Where would you like to travel next and why?

Alaska because it must be so different than the other 49 states.

  13. What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

I really enjoy snowmobiling and waterskiing.

  14. What’s one hobby you’d like to get into?

    Bee keeping/Wine making.

  15. What’s your favorite sport to watch and which team do you root for?

Nascar, I usually root for the rookies.

  16. Are you an early bird or a night owl?

Neither really, but more of a night owl. I hate getting up to an alarm.

  17. Are you a dog person or a cat person (neither or both)?

    Dog.

  18. What’s one of your favorite memories from the past year?

Traveling to Barcelona, Spain with my family. It was beautiful!

  19. What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?

My sister in-law once told me that "You can't choose who you fall in love with, but you can choose who you marry." We may love different people in different ways in our lives, but we have to use our best judgement when it comes to committing to someone for life.

  20. Is there any advice you’d offer to current and future Lutheran North students?

The grass may seem greener at some other school, but trust me when I say it's a real privilege to attend LHN. The foundation you are building on here is REALLY needed outside these school walls. Let others see Jesus in you both here and on the outside. Our world needs more people like YOU! Stand up for your morals and values.

  21. LHN ALUM BONUS QUESTION - What was your favorite class at Lutheran North and why?

It's a tie between Mr. Fasholz's art class and Mr. Buuck's biology class.
