Business Teacher

We’re proud to announce that James Dominick has joined the Lutheran North team filling the role of business teacher. Mr. Dominick has a master’s degree in Secondary Education from Wayne State University with a comprehensive major in Business, Management, Marketing, Technology (BMMT) and Vocational Technical (VT). He also has an Occupational Certificate in Drafting and Design Technology. James has lived in Michigan his entire life but has enjoyed traveling during the summer months to places such as Florida, Tennessee, California, Maryland, North Carolina, and many other states. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, playing board games, DIY projects, listening to music, and swimming. James has been married to his wife Brenda for 21 years and they have 2 children (twins) Kaitlyn and Joshua.

  1. What’s your role at Lutheran North?

    Business Teacher

  2. Where are you from?

    Born and raised in Michigan.

  3. When did you know that you wanted to be in the Lutheran high school environment and what led you to pursue that path?

    I worked in the public school system for 7 years and felt that my purpose as a teacher would be best served in a Christian-based environment.

  4. What’s your favorite Bible verse?

    Romans 15:13 - May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

  5. What are three words to best describe you?

    Hard-working, Friendly, Reliable.

  6. What was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

    Valet driver for the Detroit Lions.

  7. Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?

    Yes. I can make the sound effects of Chewbacca, Roger Rabbit, and an elephant.

  8. If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?

    Telekinesis.

  9. What’s your favorite food?

    Baby back ribs.

  10. What’s your least favorite food?

    Eggplant.

  11. What’s your favorite place that you’ve traveled and why?

    Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Live reggae music, beautiful beaches, and having fun climbing Dunn's River Falls.

  12. Where would you like to travel next and why?

    South Dakota too see Mount Rushmore.

  13. What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

    I can play the accordian.

  14. What’s one hobby you’d like to get into?

    Disc golf.

  15. What’s your favorite sport to watch and which team do you root for?

    Hockey. Detroit Red Wings.

  16. Are you an early bird or a night owl?

    Night owl.

  17. Are you a dog person or a cat person (neither or both)?

    Both.

  18. What’s one of your favorite memories from the past year?

    My family trip to Mackinac Island, Michigan.

  19. What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?

    A friend of mine told me to live in the moment.

  20. Is there any advice you’d offer to current and future Lutheran North students?

    Try to find the positive in everything.
