Grade School Memories - Immanuel Lutheran

We’re so very grateful to each of the families, schools, and educators that have prepared students to attend Lutheran North: Christian, homeschool, private, and public alike. Last week, we celebrated National Lutheran Schools Week, and today, with the help of the Class of 2021, we’re highlighting a couple favorite memories and teachers from our local Lutheran grade schools. Please take a moment to look for a few familiar faces or fond memories!

Academically, I think Mrs Jacques had the biggest impact on me. In 3rd grade I was lazy and didn’t like doing homework, memory work, etc. but one day Mrs Jacques had me stay after class and talk about it, and it motivated me to actually do my work and try to learn. I think a good portion of my work ethic can be owed to her (and other teachers there, of course).

Mrs. Barnes is the greatest teacher that’s ever stood in a class room. She made class genuinely fun, she always turned what seemed like screwing around into a lesson. Because I liked her I genuinely learned. She bought books specifically for me and put them in the back of class, because she had gotten me to like reading. After that I had her for drama and she was just great at keeping a group of kids controlled because we were actually having fun. Mrs. Barnes is the best.

My favorite memory was putting a phone into the microwave, and putting it on baked potato for a few seconds.
