Lutheran North’s Timpf wins state golf championship

Lauren Timpf ran away from the pack.
The Lutheran North sophomore shot a round of 73 on Saturday for a two-day total of 139 and the individual championship at the state Division 3 golf tournament at Forest Akers West in East Lansing.
Timpf finished 14 strokes ahead of runner-up Karli Vanduinen of Whitehall, who had rounds of 75 on Saturday and 78 on Friday for a total of 153.
Third-place Lily Bargamian of Grosse Ile had 154.
Timpf shot 66 on Friday. The Macomb County medalist’s 139 was the lowest of any individual in all four divisions.
Lutheran North finished sixth with 738 strokes for the tournament.
Cranbrook was the champion with 694. Grosse Ile was second with 700.
Other team champions were Northville in Division 1, Dearborn Divine Child in Division 2 and Montague in Division 4.
Stevenson finished 14th and Lakeview 17th in Division 1. Alexis Yang led Stevenson with 88-86/174 and Ashley Lutomski led Lakeview with 91-100/191.
Morgan Jones, L’Anse Creuse North, shot 82-83/165; Helen Buk, Dakota, 84-98/182, and Alexis Sinutko, Ford, 90-96/186, as individual qualifiers.
Other individual champs were Bridget Boczar, Plymouth, who shot 143 in Division 1; Gabriella Tapp, South Lyon, 144, Division 2, and Mia Melendez, Ann Arbor Greenhills, 143, Division 4.
