Return to Competition Policy

 

The following protocols are for the Lutheran North 2020-2021 school year. These protocols will stay in effect as long as we remain in Phase 4 of the MI Safe Schools: Return to School Roadmap. All protocols are subject to change as the Michigan High School Athletic Association or State Government updates their policies. Upon any changes, these protocols will be communicated to our community.

1. Athlete Expectations: Due to the Executive Order 180, all athletes in the following fall sports must wear a face mask or face covering at all times:

Boys Soccer, Dance, Football, Sideline Cheerleading, Volleyball

a. Every participant should confirm that they are healthy and without any symptoms prior to any event. All North athletes will complete the Covid Screening App before home games, and before riding the bus to away events.

b. All equipment must be disinfected before and after use.

c. Each participant must use a clearly marked water bottle for individual use. We will supply water jugs for refilling of water bottles only.

d. Handshakes, fist bumps, and other unnecessary contact must not occur.

e. Freshmen and JV athletes will leave following the conclusion of their game.

2. Spectator Expectations:

a. All spectators must wear a mask for all events. If you cannot wear a mask, we ask that you not attend.

b. Masks must always be worn by all event workers and volunteers.

c. No tailgating will be permitted.

d. No spectators standing outside the stadium fence.

e. Spectators not from the same household must practice social distancing by maintaining 6 feet of distance.

i. All spectators will be required to complete the Covid Screening App and temperature check before they will be allowed into the gym or stadium. If a spectator answers “Yes” to any of these questions, they will not be admitted.

f. We ask all spectators, athletes, coaches, games managers, officials, to stay home if they exhibit any of the following symptoms:

i. Fever, unusual cough, unusual shortness of breath, muscle aches, severe tiredness, chills, loss of taste or smell, diarrhea, runny nose or sore throat.

g. Spectators will leave campus following the conclusion of their game.

3. Admissions: In accordance with Executive Order 176, we are permitted to allow (2) guests per participant. This includes athletes from both the home and away team, coaches, athletic trainers, games management, and officials.

a. We will not charge admission at this time. That is subject to change.

b. Spectators that are admitted to an outdoor event must sit in an area that is marked by tape on the bleachers.

c. Spectators that are admitted to an indoor event must sit in an area that is marked by tape on the bleachers or sit on the chairs that have been socially distanced.

d. Each of our student athletes will be given 2 passes that will allow you into their own child’s event. Please present these at the gate. The Admissions volunteer will check you off and allow you into the event.

i. Visiting teams will be allowed 2 spectators per athlete on the team per game. This will be checked off on the roster at the door.

4. Bathroom Locations & Policies: Our restrooms will be open for use.

a. For outdoor events, please use the bathrooms located in the school by door 5 by the stadium.

b. For indoor events:

i. Auxiliary Gym: Use the restrooms that are located across from the gym.

ii. Main Gym: Use the restrooms that are located in the cafeteria.

5. Locker Rooms: Visiting locker rooms will be provided only for football. All other sports are expected to show up to the site already dressed and prepared for the competition

a. Visiting Football Teams will be placed in the PE locker room.

b. Teams are responsible for monitoring their own physical distancing at and wear masks when required by EO 176 and 180.

6. Concessions: Concessions will not be provided as long as we are in Phase 4 of the MI Safe Schools: Return to School Roadmap.

7. Live Stream: All volleyball games will be live streamed through our Pixellot System to the NFHS Network Website (https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/). If you would like to subscribe, visit the website and sign up for either a monthly or yearly subscription.

a. We are working on the ability to live stream our soccer and football games from the stadium. They will be streamed either on Facebook live or a Youtube channel. Once we have created that process, we will share the link with our coaches to forward out to our community.

8. Transportation: Transportation to away events will be provided via Macomb Transportation. If a school van (golf) or bus is being used for the purpose of transporting athletes to events, the following guidelines will be followed:

a. Schools will require the use of hand sanitizer before entering a school bus. Hand sanitizer will be supplied on the bus.

b. The bus driver, staff, and all students will wear facial coverings while on the bus.

c. Macomb Transportation will sanitize the bus before and after each use.

d. Players and coaches will sit with the same person and same seat on the bus to and from games.
