The Birth of Jesus - Luke 2 “The Christmas Story”

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” 16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. 21 On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.

Over the last 3 years Lutheran North has partnered with EF (Education First) Tours. For over 55 years, EF has been working to keep minds and the world wide open. They design tours to help educators teach, and so students can learn more—about tolerance, other perspectives, and themselves. Their company’s roots are in language learning and cultural exchange, and over time, EF’s mission to provide immersive, life-changing education has remained the same.

By putting people at the center of everything they do, the team at EF Educational Tours makes understanding come alive for their customers. Because a meaningful travel experience starts with whoever’s showing you the way forward.

Each year, Macomb County's top students are selected by a committee based on their grade point average and SAT scores. Over the years, an abundance of Lutheran North Mustangs have been selected for this outstanding honor. From 2009 to 2019, eighty-nine Lutheran North students were recognized as Macomb County All-Academic!

This past year, we were blessed to have six more Lutheran North Mustangs honored, bringing the total over the past twelve years to ninety-five!

EXAMPLE is a student group that believes there are plenty of God-pleasing alternatives to drinking and drug use. Example is based on I Timothy 4:12 “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.”

Here, students have an opportunity to gain strength from each other, help educate their friends about the evils of substance abuse and enjoy entertaining alternatives to substance use. Students get a chance to witness their love for Jesus Christ and show their friends they care about them by taking a stand against substance abuse.

New for this year, our staff highlighted each Fall 2020 course with a short video introduction. This is a great opportunity for prospective parents to not only to gain a better understanding of the content your student will be learning as a Mustang, but this is also a chance to get to know the our teachers.

The learning goals in our environment go beyond college acceptance, university scholarship, or even just good grades on a transcript. Our students are learning to prepare for the next step in life.

Our curriculum offers a challenging workload and development opportunities based on student needs. Ready for Honors or AP courses? National Honor Society? What about vocational or college courses? Lutheran North has your student covered!

Our approach, our philosophy is grounded in God's Word and that manifests itself in so many valuable ways. Lutheran High School North was a circa-1974 pre-engineered structure at full-capacity and needed to adapt in order to serve a new generation of students. This challenge was answered with a strategic new building and entry addition, along with a renovation of the existing cafeteria. Three elements were deemed essential for a successful project from the outset:

1. Ten additional classrooms, necessitating a new second floor
2. A doubled cafeteria/commons space for dining as well as activities
3. Refreshed, contemporary exterior to broadcast the innovation inside

Entering through the front doors of the soaring new front entrance, students and teachers now benefit from a thoughtfully day lit two-story atrium designed for learning and collaboration. Ten new classrooms were added with direct access to the commons, and the existing cafeteria was opened up to share the space as well. A contemporary building envelope of glass and metal panels provides visual punch to the school’s exterior. This exciting, adaptive learning environment now welcomes over 500 students.
