Welcome Mr. Jake Klausmeier

I was born and raised in Oakland County, Michigan. I grew up in Clarkston Michigan with my parents, John and Veronica Klausmeier, and my two siblings, Noah and Sara Klausmeier. My siblings and I all attended Lutheran grade school and middle school, and all attended Lutheran High Northwest in Rochester Hills, MI. I grew up playing lots of sports, beginning with my first hockey practice when I was 3 years old. I played hockey for 14 years, and in high school I wrestled, played football, and baseball.

During my time at Lutheran High Northwest I had many different ideas for what I would do when I graduated. Once I discovered my love for science I decided that I wanted to help others discover a love for it as well, and that is when I decided to become a science teacher. My faith has always been very important to me, which is why I decided to go to Concordia University Wisconsin in order to study to become a science teacher in a Lutheran school. As I continued my studies of science I began to realize more and more that the world in which we live tries to portray science and Christianity as being at odds with one another, and this really bothered me because I never really saw it that way. I want to help all of my students realize that science and Christianity are not at odds with one another, and that they do not need to compromise their beliefs at all in order to pursue an education or a career in science.

I am currently engaged to be married on October 26th of 2019, to my fiancé Haley. We met in 1st grade and started dating while we were both in high school at Lutheran Northwest. I have a pitbull puppy named Nala. This summer I completed a 300+ mile bike ride from Traverse City, Michigan to Battle Creek, Michigan to raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation. I have had way too many hobbies and activities that I have loved to do over the past few years to count them all, but some of the more recent ones include; training for and competing in IronMan 70.3 mile triathlons, rock climbing, trail running, road running, road biking, hiking, and camping.

I am so excited to be working here in the LHSA. I had such a fantastic experience at Lutheran Northwest, and hope that I can help all of my students have an even better experience at Lutheran North. Chemistry class was where I discovered my love for science, so it is really cool that I have the opportunity to teach chemistry this time around! I really hope to be able to help out by coaching the wrestling team when that season comes around as well.
