Update from The Superintendent

Dear LHSA Families:

I hope and pray that your family had a blessed Easter.  Throughout all the circumstances and challenges we are now facing, what an incredible blessing to know that nothing changes the love our Heavenly Father has for us and the assurance that we share in Jesus Christ our Savior!

Now that we have returned from break and have been back in our remote classrooms for a week, we will be forging ahead through May and the conclusion of the 2019-20 school year.  Although the plan for the remainder of the school year has been shared, there are still some significant, lingering questions.  There are uncertainties that we must consider especially as we look to graduate the Class of 2020!

To that end, I wanted to communicate to you that the administrative team at each school, as well as our LHSA administrative team, has been spending time and will continue to spend time discussing some of these very important issues.

We would all love to hold our graduation ceremony as we normally have.  If we cannot hold these ceremonies due to social distancing restrictions, we are determining a plan to recognize and celebrate with our seniors.  Currently, we have left each school’s graduation date in place.  We are discussing what the backup plan will be, specifically the date, location and type of program.

As we reach the end of the school year, we are still hoping there will be ways to bring our students back on campus to turn in textbooks and other materials, to gather any remaining personal possessions, and finally, perhaps most importantly, to just see each other again.  Details for doing this are being planned and as soon as we have the critical parameters for gatherings from our Governor, we will be able to announce those details.

In addition to discussions about events at the end of May and into June, we will continue to plan for the 2020-21 school year.  The beginning of next school year will be different from any we have had in the past.  This isn’t necessarily a bad thing; just different.  In any case, much of this is uncertain right now.  It is imperative that we contemplate various scenarios and prepare for the 2020-21 school year to be another great educational experience with more opportunities to grow as brothers and sisters in Christ!

For now, all of you are in my prayers as we continue in the comfort of God’s Peace!
